Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) Vacancy Details

The recruitment drive covers a total of 11,127 vacancies distributed across various categories. The breakdown is as follows: UR (4860), SC (1746), ST (919), OBC (2598), and EWS (1004). Please note that 1,115 vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen, which are included within the total count. This position is not suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must possess a Matriculation/SSLC certificate along with either an ITI qualification in relevant trades (such as Fitter, Electrician, or Mechanic) from an NCVT/SCVT recognized institute, or a 3-year Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering. Candidates awaiting final results are ineligible. Additionally, candidates who have undergone Lasik or corrective eye surgery do not meet the A-1 medical standard required for this role.

Age Limit & Relaxation

Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age as of 01-07-2026. Age relaxation is provided as per government norms: 3 years for OBC (NCL), 5 years for SC/ST, and specific relaxations for Ex-Servicemen and serving railway staff. Age relaxation is not cumulative.

Application Fee

General and EWS candidates must pay Rs. 500, while SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, Female, Transgender, Minorities, and EBC candidates pay Rs. 250. A significant portion of this fee is refundable upon appearing for the CBT-1 examination.

Salary & Pay Scale

Selected candidates will be placed in Level-2 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix, with an initial basic pay of Rs. 19,900, plus applicable allowances.
